Each student got to see what it's like to be a graphic designer as they designed a shirt for our school using the criteria below.
Design Criteria Think about a shirt you own. Why do you like it? Does the shirt design appeal to a lot of others? Does your design tell others something about Eberwhite? Does your design contain the word Eberwhite? Is your design in outline form? (no color added) Is your design in the portrait format? (Not landscape) Is your design neat and complete? (No tears in the paper, smudge marks, and etc.) The winning design below! Every student at Eberwhite Elementary helped to create the beautiful mural below. In their regular classroom students read Sister Anne's Hands or These Hands and talked about what acceptance means to them. Then each class came up with a sentence they liked best about what acceptance means to them to write on the middle part of the mural. In art class each student traced their hand and designed it to represent themself with symbols, color, line, and pattern. After cutting out their hands 5th graders helped to arrange them on the wall.
